Blue Collar Boy
7-1-09, since the puppies now have teeth Bette is starting to dread heading into the whelping box. I have now started supplemental feeding to take the edge off of their hunger so that they do not attack her when she gets in the box.

Puppies are starting to sit up!
6-16-09, Little purple collar girl is no longer with us. Bette accidentally laid on her. I was there at the time, but was napping and did not hear any distress sounds. I feel just awful, I let both Bette and her lovely litter down.
Here are their first days
6-9-09, 3 girls, 4 boys. Early this morning Bette seemed to be going into labor. She was panting and could not get comfortable. Since the puppies were due Wednesday, we already had an appointment to get an x-ray to count spines. Dr B said I could take her home and deliver naturally, but as Bette seemed to be in mild distress and had been this way for several hours, we might be better off doing a c-section. Sure enough Dr B was right (again). Seemed little gold collar girl had come down her designated horn and instead of taking a right did a u turn and was headed back up the other horn! She was creating a traffic jam. Anyway, all are safe and healthy.
