I am fortunate to have Nikki Riggsbee of McEmn Great Danes as my mentor and friend. Her site contains many of the beautiful dogs in my pedigree. You should also check out her Great Dane Seminar located on the home page.

If your thinking about a Great Dane, think about rescue. My first Dane, Briedy was a rescue and one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

My personal favorite and the one in my area is Great Dane Rescue of Tampa Bay (Florida). Run by Linda Drag, without her tireless effort many wonderful Danes would not survive.

Great Dane Club of America also offers a list of rescue groups by state, but only if they are affiliated with a local Great Dane club; however, many wonderful rescue groups are not affiliated with a local Great Dane club. If you want to locate a rescue group in your area go to Google and enter Great Dane rescue and your state.

Dane World Magazine an on-line magazine dedicated to Great Danes.

Great Danes Online, a comprehensive Great Dane website that includes a Great Dane Discussion Forum, a free newsletter and a plethora of other Dane specific programs.

For those of you interested in pedigrees, Quintessa is an awesome site. From this site you can search backwards to view ancestry and forwards to view progeny! You can also to a plain search or a link search in which you can look at the pedigree of each dog selected! It's what the AKC ought to offer. The site is managed single handedly by a man in Australia, so if you see anything that needs correcting, just let him know. Also, send him a couple of bucks (Paypal link at site) if you find it useful and of course a quick letter of thanks would also be nice.

It's not often that I go, "WOW, that is really cool"! When I do it's worth sharing. Here are links to some products I have come across that I think are really awesome!

Xtreme Sport Leash - Whenever I take my Danes for a walk I get asked about my leash. This company advertises that they have "The best Leash on Earth" and they are not kidding. I can walk as many as four Danes at one time with no fear of loosing control. OK, I usually never walk more than two, but have had four on at once to get from say, the van to the dog park.

Sojourner Farms - For the best panties on the market, you can't beat Seasonals! I use them, the girls do not remove them so they must think they are comfortable and they last forever.

DogLeggs - I had a Dane once with hygromas on his elbows. What a nightmare. Usually created by large dogs who tend to drop to the floor instead of laying down normally. I wish I would have had these then. Also used to treat elbow and forelimb diseases such as ulcers, lick granulomas and to prevent elbow trauma especially in large breed patients with degenerative myelopathy, intervertebral disk disease and elbow dysplasia or any process that has resulted in arthritic remodeling of the elbow. BTW, these are covered by your Pet Insurance policy if your vet prescribes them!

Masterpiece Pet Products - These are the very best dog beds, fleece pads and toys. Specifically designed for giant breeds. I have had many of my beds for several years and they still look great! Worth every penny as these items will last a lifetime (make sure to spray it with Arid Extra Dry aerosol deodorant to prevent chewing).

Show support for the Great Dane Revolution with "Obey the Great Dane!" propaganda. When the Great Danes launch their world domination plot, will you be one of the lucky ones?
